Morphing Coffee Cup Review
So today I want to do a review on the morphing Zazzle mugs.
So, I joke about how I have been on zazzle for well over a decade now and still notice new things all the time, right?
So here is one of those things.
A month ago, I ordered a mug from one of my viewers, Smokey Mountain Papers, who had made a mug for my blog, Time for the Holidays, for National Milk Day.
I thought this mug was so cute, the design is cute and it's perfect for my grandkids when they visit and always want chocolate milk. This will be their chocolate milk mug.
So anyways, this is what I ordered.
So anyways, this is what I ordered.
So I wrote to Zazzle and explained that i ordered a mug with this cute cow design but what i got was just an all-black mug. They wrote back to me to let me know the morhping mugs come in all black or all blue, and color change when you put hot liquid in them! I had no idea. I guess I thought the "morphing" part was the handle black morphine into the white mug. Sign... embarrassing.
So, I wanted to play around with it and I did this experiment. First, I tried to just fill the mug with super-hot steaming water from the sink. It got mostly white with the design, the hotter the better. It turned white up until the point the water was in there. So, if there is a design on the top it won't be seen. It lasted maybe ten minutes where you could see the design.

When i filled it with boiling water, then it turned bright white, and the design could be seen. And you could see the design for over ten minutes as long as the water was super-duper hot. So, in the end, I guess I would give this a"wonky face",
Con: There are pros and cons. If you want something that looks cute on your coffee mug rack, then no, don't bother, unless you like just black mugs. I mean it did match my black Schitt's Creek mug, but not great with the others.
Pro: If you want something you can surprise someone with, like a gift for someone then they pour a cup of coffee and are like OMG there is actually a design on this, for ten minutes! Then that's awesome. Especially if you put a design on there that is funny or unexpected.
Con: If you want to pour your grandkids a cup of cold chocolate milk, then it's not a good cup.
Pro: If your grandkids like Hot Chocolate, then it's perfect! Just make sure they are old enough to not burn themselves!
But then again, it IS a coffee cup, meant for hot beverages like coffee and tea. So, if you are going to boil water or use a coffee pot then it would be a cute thing to see each day as the design slowly shows itself. It would also let you know when something was cooling off as the design will start to fade. So, the review could go either way, depending on the use of the coffee mug, thus the wonky face.

If you want to see the mug changing color watch this video.
I got a Winnie the Pooh morphing mug years ago and one time I forgot and put it in the dishwasher. That was it. The morphing no longer worked, and the mug was stuck in a kind of twilight ... 3/4 of the mug showed Winnie the Pooh & friends, and the remaining 1/4 near the rim stayed black (I think!)
ReplyDeletePS. omg, we both have the same Dash mini waffle maker in the same green color!!!!!
Oh how cute that we both have the same waffle iron! Grandkids LOVE waffles when they spend the night lol. But that sucks that the mug got ruined!!!! Awwww PS I love Winnie the Pooh too!
